They said it couldn’t be done- not professional theatre in rural Kentucky, but miracles happened. Thousands of company members, donors, sponsors, patrons and volunteers made it possible, and we salute all of you who had the dream and helped make it happen for all these years.

You have laughed with us. You and your children and perhaps your grandchildren have learned the crafts of the theatre. You have danced, proclaimed timeless lines, sewed fabulous costumes and painted magical sets.

And through it all we have learned to look at ourselves as we looked over the footlights. And we have come to know ourselves and our world a mite better for the experience.

We are sad to say that we will not be opening our doors for a 2013 season. Economic pressures have made it impossible to continue.

If you failed to pick up one of our beautiful 2012 programs, please stop by The Bookstore in downtown Horse Cave. Tom Chaney has a supply to share with you. The program has a history of the beginning of the theatre and of the educational program. Inside are historic photos, and on the cover is an image of the historic Vaudeville stage that is upstairs at the theatre.

Our theatre is not dead. It lives on in the memories of hundreds of thousands of patrons; in our influence on theatre in the region, state and nation; in the performers who share with the world the art they honed on our stage; and especially in the hundreds of thousands of young people who experienced live, professional theatre in rural Kentucky.
